Twelve men contemplate the destiny of a country in the high-stakes negotiation that led to the Declaration of Independence, which is the subject of the musical 1776. The musical highlights the difficulties these loyal, tenacious people faced in putting aside their political disagreements and coming to an agreement that ultimately resulted in the split from Great Britain. This Tony Award-winning musical is intended for everyone over the age of thirteen. Along with this, it has the well-known songs Overture, Sit Down, John, Piddle, Twiddle, and Resolve by the Lees of Old Virginia.
